I would definitely add a head torch, its the easiest way to navigate your home when doing tasks around the house after dark.

Thank you once again for the information and I will be sure to give some feedback when I get my 5r5's and start playing. No problem, good luck with the new radios & the foundation exam, I look forward to hearing how you get on. :D Ive been on my UV5R this lunchtime from home with it attached to...

Re: 2M/70CM ROLL UP J-POLE/SLIM JIM ANTENNA

I think these antennas in combination with the UV5R really take some beating, I also used one of these hanging in my loft space for a while prior to installing my outdoor antenna on the house & it worked brilliantly within the roof space & is a good option for a stealthy set up, where you do...

Re: Calling all female preppers

As soon as a join the UKrno starts asking questions about weapons don't bother. You know exactly how any article is going to turn out. The timing of the weapons question may have something to do with whats happening with regards to the new gun laws being forced through in the wake of the paris attr...

Re: Planning a wild camp

Sorry mate, didn't realise I didn't reply to this. Good advice - I know it get's perishingly cold. I'm planning on getting some wool blankets and I've got a single inflatable mattress ready to go. And I've got the four season sleeping bag (which I even use in summer 'cos I like being toasty). I use...

Re: Planning a wild camp

I've done a fair bit of winter car camping, the first thing that surprised me was just how cold it was, I had expected the car to be warmer than a tent & to be honest, the first time I did it was a February & I had a shock, I have had warmer nights in a tent. I now use a heat reflective bott...

Re: For Storm Barney......

It was a bit rough but no problems here, no loss of power in our area, but others in Shropshire were not so lucky, also my antenna is still up & looks no worse for it :D

But it does look like ill have my work cut out sweeping up all the leaves once it all settles down. :(

Re: For Storm Barney......

Things are starting to get a bit blustery where I live, the neighbours "for sale" sign has become an early victim of the winds  Its certainly fetching many of the leaves off that had been clinging on up to this point, I put the remaining garden furniture away in the shed & took do...

Anyone got an ICOM IC-7200

I'm looking for opinions on the above radio, I want a portable unit that can double as a fixed station in between road trips, I don't have the funds to buy numerous expensive rigs. I also quite like the look of the Yaesu 857 as another option, so opinions on that or any other alternatives are welcom...
