Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Waterbaby, interesting that you've got a fig ... they seed themselves in the wild round here, from garden ones obviously, so this year I picked up about 8 little figs from the pavement - I put 4 inside the house, to dry, and left 4 in the garden to stratify, and I've just planted them all up, each s...

Re: Free Kindle books

Thanks hamradioop! Just downloaded these too.

I don't know about finding individual books, but this site http://www.dailyfreebooks.co.uk/ has hundreds of them. They offer a daily email (of course  ) and they also have a "new today" section.

Re: Cash!!!

Started to watch Falling Skies recently, post-apocalypse because of alien invasion, its quite good. The protagonist finds cash really useful at one spot, as he's on a trek home after being tortured by the baddies - he uses it for his fire one evening :)

Re: Getting back into thinking about prepping

Hi again Pingu :) It sounds like it was a combination of circumstances that was right for you and your whole family - and you were able to go for the new circumstances, which is great. If you'd been chasing your tail, and not prepped, it might have been much more difficult - so good for you all roun...

Re: Dangers of open fire cooking

Sorry to hear about your wife, Bongo, I hope she's clear of that now.

Very interesting to put this topic together with the rocket stove, where it burns up the crap that usually gets dumped into the atmosphere (ie indoors, in weather like this!)

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Feisty, thanks for posting again on the phones thing. I have a minimum of 3 working public phones within 15 minutes walk of my house that I know of, so I suppose it must vary from area to area ... I hadn't taken on the full implications of even smaller towns than this, and the countryside too ... I ...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Arzosah, Cutting up food wise was done on a small plastic chopping board, which is perfect BOB size, just inside the doorway in that pebble-dashed utility room but could have been easily done on any surface to hand. The wood was chopped up right there just out of shot. All-in-all it was a bit of fu...

Re: Greeting from Lincolnshire

Welcome to the forum, Bearded Grandad :) Why don't you tell us a bit about the kit you've managed to assemble, and what you're prepping for? That will also help anyone who has feedback on kit to give you.
