Re: Mining as a part of prepping

I reckon if you offered a gold sovereign (face value of £1 I think?) for a couple of loaves of bread, you'd have your hand snapped off, but doesn't mean it's sensible to do! :) I think it's more around the tax situation that it really becomes relevant. The thing with crypto is that they can be massi...

Re: Mining as a part of prepping

Yeah the way Bitcoin algorithms were designed basically meant that the amount of "work" to produce each coin increases (not sure if it's exponential) so for example, in the early days a moderate computer might be able to "mine" (generate) multiple coins per day whereas today you ...

Re: Mining as a part of prepping
Please forgive my genuine question and technical ignorance. How do you turn this currency into something you can actually spend?
No ignorance, it's not an easily understood subject TBF & I barely understand the basics, but essentially you can trade coins for coins, i.e. one typ...

Re: Mining as a part of prepping

Well, crypto has been on the rise again for the last year, to the point where I'm finally about back to where I started! My holdings which started around £1250-worth dropped to a low of around £136 just about a year ago (I think I remember seeing it down to £128) but after an overall portfolio...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

They've been replacing gas mains in our village for a couple of months & reached us last week so today our gas is switched off all day whilst they connect our street to the main. Log burner is ticking over nicely :)

Tried adding leg locks .. no change in premium .. nor did ground anchor. Or additional wheel clamp / winter wheels .. a tracker knocked about £15 a year off and that was it
...and the tracker would have cost more than that anyway!

Re: Securing a camper

Essentially all you need to do is enough for them to think the next one is a better target. I've seen the vids of locks being dispatched in <1min but I reckon anyone trying to cut a steering lock is going to make a right mess of the interior so likely a good enough deterrent especially when used in ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I spent today clearing down the greenhouse & veg beds getting them ready for the season (should have done it end of last year but was lazy!). Will be sowing some peppers/chillis tomorrow to start off in the house - I tried them last year but after procrastinating over them they ended up very leg...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Cleaning and polishing my shoes may count as a prep  the polish is so old, I couldn't put it on with a brush, I had to rub little chunks over the stitching and spread it out from there  You've just reminded me that my tin of shoe polish is circa 30yrs old! you can tell it doesn't ge...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Spent the day doing an ATV/Quad bike training course as part of the local Woodfuel group volunteering so that had some useful knowledge & I got my cert. Shame I then got an email tonight saying they've had to cancel all sessions for January though it Iwas expected. First aid is next course, wait...
