Re: First attempt at knife making

I'm ok with electrics and basic mechanics, but woodworking I have a problem with, I'd be able to make the handle/grips but neat it wouldn't be. Crap is a better word for my woodworking. Ok it stays together but looks rough as hell.
Mine would NEVER look half as good as that one mate.

Re: Boats/sailing

Don't knock a mirror dinghy mate. We had a family friend who used to pop over to France in one... From Wales, all 10 foot 6 of it. Mind, he wasn't the full shilling as we say here but he did it loads of times. Not knocking Mirrors, as a kid I had plenty goes in them, I also know how easy they are t...

Re: Boats/sailing

I'd have no problems "liberating" a boat if the SHTF, half of them are never used anyway. Personally I'd go for something around 30/40 foot maybe, sail and a small engine. Thats small enough to manage on your own, and hide, but big enough to be good to France or Ireland, or rough seas. I'd...

Re: puncture.........

The above is the reason I have Mutts Nutz RAC cover, smartphone and RAC App! I'd be shamed getting the RAC/AA out just to change a wheel... ;) Beware if you get the AA out after getting a puncture due to hitting a pot hole they class it as accident damage/ recovery not a breakdown and it's £1...

Re: Reevaluating and resupplying

I'm another who is finding it harder, my old injuries are starting to affect my mobility, not too bad yet, but it's much harder than it was to get up hills and things.
I'm trimming weight where I can.
Trouble is in my head I'm still 25 and super fit... sadly my body has a different opinion. ;)

Re: How would you get home if SHTF?

Being able to sail is a really handy skill to have, even a small boat can go a long way in a day, and here in the UK we don't get that many days without wind.
Another advantage of sailing is it's really quiet, so it's easy to pull into a small cove or river and hide up if needed.
