Re: Thermo flask under £20
Thermos, They used to be good, dont know how good they are now. I think for that money you wont go wrong so long as its decent quality, leak free lid, aluminium casing etc. I have a travel mug for work, just a push fit lid, around 350 - 400 ml , cheap (5 quid) and it will keep my tea warm for hours,...

Re: winter..... and batteries...
Be wary of battery testers, we used a SnapOn one at work and it condemned some decent batteries and passed others that were totalled. Hook up a multimeter to the battery and test voltage, now turn the engine over, the voltage shouldn't drop by too much, if your battery is healthy do it now, make a n...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?
https://www.wearecb.com/testing-cb-antenna-ground.html have a quick look at this.unfortunately yes even a ground earth from a antenna can react and become a part of the antenna physical length. Look don't over think it , get a radio or 2. A antenna and if required a amp a decent swr meter with powe...

Re: Coal briquettes
Buy a chainsaw, go out, cut up deadwood, fill your car up.
I dont know the legalities of collecting deadwood and it doesnt last long in a stove, but, its pumps out the heat.

Re: Emergency light modification...
When the lights go out, which they regularly do where I live, I just walk to the kitchen and grab my MagLite, using the torch on my phone, then I have a few oil lamps and Tilley lamps that I can light or I find decent COB mechanics rechargeable work lamps to work brilliantly. Battery lights long ter...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?
Earthing battery. Whilst I would earth the battery radio as well as a earth from radio shortest wire to chassis too. I'm not sure to antenna would help much due to wire length I have a lot to learn and research, I would never have guessed the length of an earth wire from the antenna would have an e...

Re: Easiest alcohol to make?
This is an old thread but I was wondering, has anyone distilled their own spirits? Ive always fancied making white whiskey or poteen. As an avid brewer, I have to say that it is possible to distill ;) However, as a moderator, I have to also say that under current uk tax laws, it is illegal. As we d...

Re: Mobile CB for long range?
Would earthing directly to the vehicles battery be beneficial? Land Rovers have a terrible electrical system, especially the earths. I rewired a lot of my earths so they run directly to the battery.

Re: Mobile CB for long range?
The frame is just a frame, no metal plates on it. The body is all aluminium so an earth fly lead to chassis would be better than earthing to the body. I hade the spare wheel mount in mind but would have to remove the antenna to get to the spare, but I seldom get punctures anyway. Modding the canvas ...
