Re: Hello from the New Girl
Welcome :) PAW fiction. It's fun, in an abysmal sort of way. But very few of the protagonists ever seem to have family at a distance, they're all conveniently dead etc, and have never started families of their own. There are a few honourable exceptions, of course, and anyway I'm thinking more of the...

Re: Blacks sale.
Deeps! Thats amazing! It certainly looks top end to me  Right, that gives me a baseline to work from, which is brilliant. I'd love to bring the panel I already own into play, but something like this is probably best right now for a noob like me. I'm going to have fun looking through those q...

Re: New member in Southport
Welcome Dashwood! Sadly, I'd be really surprised if there were many preppers in Southport - I grew up near there, though I live way down south now. Do you ever go seashore foraging? Not many rock pools, of course, with all that sand, but storms throw up lots of lovely seaweed to nourish the garden :)

Re: Blacks sale.
I use an Anker 14W solar panel which folds down nicely and I've a few standard AA/AAA chargers as well as one of these. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00Y28NB3O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So, that charges AA and AAA batteries ... but, what from? Where does the power come ...

Re: Blacks sale.
Thanks for that, Deeps, do you mean like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/PortaPow-Battery-Charger-Power-Bank/dp/B00HCBDV10 - although that says a kindle won't get much charge from it. This thing was advertised on the page where I found the above: https://www.amazon.co.uk/PortaPow-10200mAh-Battery...

Re: Blacks sale.
I'd use it for charging phone and kindle, maybe a light or two, maybe even the dehydrator, which runs at 75w (i.e. less than an old lightbulb) ... "Inverter" actually meant "'leccy gadget that completely mystifies me". I never seem to devote enough time to understanding it all .....

Re: Blacks sale.
Thanks for this! I'm trying to get together a solar power setup. I have a 13W solar panel (which calls itself a solar generator on the box!). I know there's an inverter needed, and a battery, but I'm wondering if this: https://m.blacks.co.uk/product/powertraveller-spidermonkey-usb-charging-hub/12466...

Re: London based newbie. Any prepper groups in London?
Welcome :) Especially with a baby, I think bugging out is a second rate option: if there's a gas leak, or an unexploded WWII bomb or something, it may be necessary, but "sheltering in place" is usually preferable - you've got *all* your stuff, you've got walls around you not a tent or some...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.
Cheers. Yes have thought about re-usable nappies, if only as a prep. Think it will be a combination of them both. Sometimes far easier to use disposable. I agree, if you're down with a lurgy or something, disposable could be a godsend, whereas you'd want to use reusable normally. Regards prepping b...
