Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
Doing a bit of a stock take of tinned and long life food reserves. Embarrassing!! OMG, SO MUCH is WAYYYYYYY PAST BBE. Has it really been 7 years that I've been buying this stuff? !!!!! I'll post up a confession list, when the stock take is complete and as a self punishment, I'll open and consume my...

Re: NRG-5 rations or freeze dried rations?
* I'm inclined to make my first BOB. Currently just a gym bag and pretty useless. You should. A rucksack is more practical. Size-wise, depends, if you want to be self sufficient, outdoors for several days, ie carry some form of shelter, and be warm in winter, you need at least 50 litres, preferably...

Re: NRG-5 rations or freeze dried rations?
The NRG are great.... If you want something you can stick in your car kit or Hotel bag and then just forget about.
If you need a food reserve, there are better (and cheaper) ways of doing that.
They're 'lifeboat' type rations, best to use them as such

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
Moved some cheese powder into my Amazon basket for end of the month. It's not something I'd normally buy, but I need some protein for my food store, apart from tuna, and I reckon it could go into pasta sauce, or make mac and cheese. Bought some Al'Fez dehydrated falafel mix from Sainsburys, again f...

Jansman: Keep Troshin' on Frnc: For tarp and tent repairs I'll recommend "Tenacious Tape", its clear and sticks like goosegrass on a poodle. Not cheap but a repair I did on a tent is still there after five camping seasons. I like the auto-awl concept and have a Buffalo, I don't use it ofte...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
Got a small, cheap second hand sewing machine and going to start out with new lined heavy curtains for the winter. As an aside, when did sewing machines get so expensive and complicated?!? Looked at some in JL and was really a bit freaked out by both cost and complexity, assured by colleagues that ...

Rotated the petrol stocks, not sure if one can was filled this year.... So I dumped it in a nearly empty car and filled up with another ten gallons so its well diluted. Going to buy a chinagraph (because I can clean it off) to date the cans . Psuedo: I tend to use battery adapters to run my D cell t...
