Re: Gold content of jewellery and scrap gold
There are several YouTube entries about separating gold from base metal using acid and hydrogen peroxide and using borax to decrease the melting point of gold so you can melt it using a Bunsen Burner (or something like it). Of course only do this if you are knowledgeable with this sort of thing and ...

During a water outage recently we managed with our small store of rainwater to flush the loo and small supply of water. It’s really alarming how quickly the shops ...

I've got a couple of huge woolly jumpers and scarves that save the day. One interesting thing: a few years ago I was attending a Herbal Medicine workshop in Autumn. I was cold all day. My tutor gave me Angelica tincture. Half an hour later I was taking my jumper OFF as I was too hot! Works a treat.

Ripped out the old woody sprouting broccoli as it had gone to rack and ruin. Plenty of plums, blackberries. Swap for Bramleys and pears from a neighb...

Wulfshead, your sword looks AWESOME!! There's a series called Forged on Fire which is a timed sword/knife/axe making competition. Inspiring viewing. You could go there and tell them what to do!!

Re: The return of rail
My hubby loves trains and we have a friends and family railcard. Some lines in Gloucestershire are being updated which we appreciate but one evening my train home from Worcester was cancelled. Not best pleased as I had to leave work early disrupting my class to catch the one train to Shrub Hill then...

Not everyone is 37.2C. Children and babies are warmer than older children and adults and your temperature varies throughout the day by nearly a degree Fahrenheit.

Re: DIY Shampoo
Soap nuts are quite good. They are dry and will store in a cool dark place for ages. I use them for laundry with a bit of essential oil. When the nuts don't yield much foam anymore I boil them in a couple of mugfuls of water for about 20 minutes. Let it cool and either use to do the dishes with or a...

Re: Advice on selling rings
Thanks guys! I finally went to Hatton Garden Metals. Very recommended by Moneysavingexpert. They sell tiny bars.they deal in Silver, platinum and palladium too. I'll keep an eye on the prices so when any fall I can stock up.
