Re: How are you preparing for Brexit?
There's a bit of sneaking about going on: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/dec/23/pharmaceutical-firms-preparing-no-deal-brexit-ordered-to-sign-ndas Saw this. I don’t think folks really get what could happen. No, they're too busy shopping for bargains in the sales or meeting for exorbitant...

Re: Hidden retreat?
I don't know if you've resolved your situation yet but I have built a hidden retreat myself so have some idea of the problems. I'd start with forest land, either rough uncleared land or some recent pine forest............... This can be achieved in a couple of weeks rather than months and for a few...

So, first thing she's doing when she gets home as far as I'm concerned is gathering what SHE considers the essentials I notice you've emphasized "what SHE considers the essentials." That has set me wondering what my OH would put in a bag of "essentials." I think I'll have to try...

Re: Brexit-related prepping resource
I'm reminded of the old children's story, "Henny-penny, the sky is falling in!" So many in the media seem to revel in alarmist forecasts of doom and gloom as regards the country's fate after Brexit. It's almost as if they want it to be an unmitigated disaster and for the country to be in a...

Two tons of coal arrived last week. This week I spent two days cutting wood into handy, burnable lengths. Soon be ready for Winter!

Re: Outside toilet
A large part of my emergency food supplies are in a small brick outbuilding near the house. This time of year I keep a paraffin greenhouse heater burning in there in an attempt to stop the temperature dropping below 40ºF. Normally one wick alight is sufficient. At the moment though all four wicks ar...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.
Thanks for your supportive words Brambles and Deep. Hopefully I'll be able to concentrate more on the forum now my treatment is over; (in between sudden, unexpected dashes to the smallest room in the house!) Seriously though, to all guys out there over the age of 60, if you haven't already, I ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.
I've taken a few weeks break from prepping whilst I received treatment for prostate cancer. Hopefully that's all over (at least for now) and the side effects are gradually decreasing (trust me you don't want to hear about the side effects!) In the meantime though you guys have posted so much ...

Re: How will YOU keep warm on cold winter nights?
Well back in the day of our grandparents there was no central heating or radiators for the less wealthy they got by with one fire burning in the home layering blankets on beds heating beds with pans or bottles wrapped in towels or cloth the only part of you left outside the covers was the nose the ...

Re: Hi from south wales
Hi there Welsh prep girl, Welcome to the forum. No you're not the mad one, on the contrary you're sane, forward thinking and sensible to take precautions. You'll also be the one all your friends and family will come to if ever things go "pear shaped" (that's the polite expression!) That's ...
