Re: Pleased i have candles!! putting together a power cut pa
When we were considering things that we would need, the two things for most of us is cooking and heating. If we need to move into one room and rely on our own heating and cooking, one fuel supply was essential. I decided to go with bioethanol for both!! We have a Trangia full cook set with fuel burn...

Re: QTY KT-8900R
I think more and more people are looking at 2/70 as a means to communication. Especially as the like of the HT Baofengs go for around £30 and are fairly easy to use. I have not explored the possibilities of other repeaters other than my local ones, but hopefully once I have my Foundation the world i...

QTY KT-8900R
Having played around with my Christmas gifts (x2 Baofeng 5r5s) and received great help and advice from other posters on here, I have recently acquired a reasonably cheap mobile 2mtr 70cm radio. I went against my usual trend and bought this off a well known bidding site and waited for its arrival so ...

Re: Baofeng UV-5R
I've got my Baofeng UV-5R and I've seen loads of youtube and self help websites but I am still non the wiser on how to use the damn thing. All it makes is a loud white noise sound. If I turn off the squelch then I loose my signal bars. I can't even work out how to use CHIRP (I've managed to g...

Re: 2M/70CM ROLL UP J-POLE/SLIM JIM ANTENNA
I am unable to trip a 2mtr repeater 17 miles away with either the stock antenna or a 15" third party one, but when I put the slim jim up on a 5 mtr fishing pole it trips the repeater no problem. A great addition to the Baofeng comms bag and look forward to TXing when I get my Foundation. So yo...

Re: Baofeng UV-5R
Well I have now been playing and learning my way around my new Baofeng 5r5's since getting them at Christmas. Now some find these little radio's the simplest thing in the world to use which obviously includes programming, well I have to admit I almost gave up as I found it very confusing never havi...

Re: Walkie Talkies
For the distance and terrain I would probably have to support the CB option. They are relatively cheap to buy and a couple of home base antennas would serve you well, also as has been mentioned, you could put it in your car for mobile operation. If your parents are well elevated, they will more than...
