Re: PTT. Simples...

Baofeng is the way to go without doubt. In my opinion uv5 is the daddy maybe due to its wide ability and freq width that can be expanded, programmed with pmr too in channel mode. AA battery cases ,battery eliminators ,upgrade antennas, shoulder mics Mic extension cables use it as a portable ,base, ...

Re: PTT. Simples...

Cheers gang. Don't really want to go down th route of licenses and certifications and all that, just simple PTT walkies. Multi channels and with HZ powers and extra long aerials all go over my head a bit. However I'll go stalk the Baefongs and see what comes up. If you pick up a baofeng and need a ...

Re: PTT. Simples...

I've not used the UV-82 but I would try putting the frequency into chirp in full and see if the radio will take it. Stores/events probably use an Ofcom Business Simple UK Licence, that allows up to 5W. The Baofengs are ideal for that. I did the Essex Ham course back in Lockdown 1, found it pretty ea...

Re: PTT. Simples...

Apologies. The UV-5R is either 1 or 4 watts so technically illegal to use as PMR (although as I previously said you're never going to be discovered/caught)

Re: PTT. Simples...

Yes, you can use them on PMR without a license if you set that frequency to a maximum transmit power of 0.5W.
Of course if you were to transmit at higher power (1/2/5W) you are VERY unlikely to be noticed.

Re: Heating your house in the future

I'm going to be doing a lot of work to my house this year and I'm considering a heat pump rather than a boiler but I need to do a lot more research to see if it's going to pay back. I'd really like to have a "green" alternative but if it's going to cost too much money or take up too much s...

Re: Garage Freezer: Beware

You can get freezers that are suitable for outbuidings and are ok down to -15.
I know this because I bought one but it lives in the house now due to my incompetence with a tape measure.

PD35 I believe.
I've got one of those. It sits in my torch box and is almost never used. Much prefer the Olight S2 which lives in my pocket all the time. https://www.olightstore.uk/s2r-baton-ii.html
