Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Spent most of today with a chainsaw in the woods 😁. Also dropped off some diesel to a neighbour (we've changed cars to petrol so jerry can of diesel is surplus to requirements), got a bucket of tomatoes in return 🤔 seems a fair swap 😉

Re: Hi to all - Newbie here

Hi serendipity, we moved last year and like you would have had a lot of food stuffs to move. Partially solved the problem by eating all the canned goods and only moving the dried goods.

Yorkshire Andy - what was the name of the suitable for ALL fires extinguishers you wrote about a while back. My ABC's are approaching needing serviced/replaced so the ones that are suitable for all fires seem a good move Firexo https://firexo.com/ Stocked by Screwfix and Halfords By the ratings as ...

Result - we've started on the fallen trees in the farmers second field and they are all beautifully seasoned, "only" pine but still free, dry wood ☺️. Farmer is even going to bring it up to the house with his tractor. May have to give him a bottle at Xmas.

Re: Hot water

If washing with limited water another method is to have two bowls, one with soapy water and the other with fresh water then it's a case of rinse on,rinse off starting at the top & working down. Obviously don't overdo the soap or both bowls end up soapy.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Yes, can heat water on the woodburner but also on the (bottled) gas hob so no worries for boiling water. 3x spare gas bottles = 2 years worth of gas. Although that time span would be reduced if we were using the hob more for sterilising water.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Got a week's annual leave and kids are off school/college so we've got a good little system going to cut, process & clear the farmers fallen trees. One field cleared, one to go. Reaching that lovely situation where we may run out of space to store wood 😊. I'm thinking we're definitely at the two ...

Good test. You can go a long time without showering, just make sure you wash your hands, face, pits, groin & feet to maintain hygiene. The rest is pretty superfluous.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Was chatting to a local farmer last night - he has a fallen sycamore and alder tree he needs cleared. Leapt on the opportunity, that's this weekends job for me & my son. The sycamores good, the alder less so but free wood's free wood :D
