Theirs loads of frequencies to monitor and transmit on if needed in emergencies especially post shtf. I tend to not only list calling frequencies that are as such nominated but also I find a list of weekly radio nets ,with Times frequencies so on as new ones pop up add them. Pete, sounds like you know your stuff, what do you reckon to a handheld CB (midland Alan) ? Recently did a couple of trials with vhf 2m and cb fm hand held radios as a comparison. It was all very unscientific and more as a need to know contact could be made with a friend with a small portable radio . I have kept diesel over 12 months no problems. However my advice would be ,ensure containers are spotless, keep them in cool place , rotate your fuel within 6 months to ensure no problems.
