food stocks

I recently went through my food stocks to find that a stack of Heinz tomato soup concentrate had decided to explode. The tins were stamped april 2013. Ok I know we are meant to rotate our food stock, and store what we use in daily life, but this was a big supply of food that was surplus to work, and...

Re: Water

Hi guys, thought I'd share this, I bought a new intermediate bulk container (ibc) last year, it holds a little over 1000 litres. I've insulated with silvered loft insulation and cladded it with shiplap, felt roof. Water is an important prep, if you're not storing it you may run into problems when it...

Re: Getting started in radio communications

Well, I've done it. Went along to my local radio Ham club, and joined. I walked through the door, it went deathly quiet, they all looked at the new boy. I was in shock for a while, all of them a bit nurdy, looks like I might fit in. Going to start the foundation license, even going to have a go at M...

Re: Dogs.

Got two German Shepherds, both brilliant guard dogs, (but soft as any thing to the right person).
I make sure I've plenty of food for them stowed away for SHTF periods. Probably should stock up on treats too.

Re: Resilient Emergency Communications

Malthouse, brilliant set of posts, great idea for using the PBR, and fully support your idea.

Fairly new on this site, and been far too quiet.

Taken a leaf from your book and orderred two of the UV5RA's.

Re: Official UKP printed Map?

I'm going to try this water proof paper, found it on the O/S site, also on e-bay "Toughprint 100% Waterproof LASER A4 Paper" The advert says it's good for maps. Just thought it might help. (apologies for not submitting much, I'm always reading the posts, feel a bit lazy, but I do appreciat...

Hi all,
reason for prepping - worried about the fragility of our life style.
Been aware of this for some time now, so started prepping last year.
A bit late, but at least I'm aware now.
People need people, so this web site is valuable.
Still learning, but doing it fast, as we all should.
Seadog.
