Re: Acorn Coffee

I'm not a coffee drinker either, but some of my family are so I'd love to hear how it turns out and any other "old time" recipes you try out.

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Re: Need a good reason to prep?

Well done, Jansman, for taking a stand and winning :D . Good luck in the new job, sounds like your old boss may have done you a favour! Feel sorry for your old workmates, hope they find themselves in the same frame of mind as you and a place that they can make choices from too.

Re: Quilting

I have made some patchwork duvet covers, i too prefer sewing by hand, i use thin card/stiff paper as a backing to each patch to keep the lines straight and sizes true. I once asked some of my kids, who had left home, if there was anything they'd like, and was amazed when 3 of them asked for one of t...

You echo me closely, nzbred. It's a great feeling to know you've done something for yourselves and are not reliant on others. i too am preping for more personal reasons, although hopefully will have a head start if more serious events arrive. It takes the panic out of things for me.

I have 4months extra supply of 1 and 3 months of another. The 1st I feel guilty about because boots chemist gave me a bottle of 100 instead o...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

We need more water, didn't think I was doing too bad but I've done a dry run, pardon the pun, washing myself instead of having a bath/shower. Thought I could do it with 2ltrs water, used 4. and that wasn't easy even though I was actually clean. No way could I have washed my hair and if I hadn't wash...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

Made some rasp and some blackcurrant jam, not as much as last year as one of my sources of fruit moved, damn them :x . Our local tescos seem to be having one of their throw out times, they reduce the prices of stuff they're no longer stocking or whatever. Got 10 boxes of 240 typhoo for, wait for it ...
