Re: How long can you sustain your family on your stored food? And tips how to rotate

This brings me to a conclusion that we probably don't need much food to store - in case of a disaster we will be evacuated, in case of WW3 - well, I will try to move out from radioactive land to places that are less contaminated, but there is still a chance I have to stay put before the opportunity...

Doing a bit of a stock take of tinned and long life food reserves. Embarrassing!! OMG, SO MUCH is WAYYYYYYY PAST BBE. Has it really been 7 years that I've been buying this stuff? !!!!! I'll post up a confession list, when the stock take is complete and as a self punishment, I'll open and consume my...

A question about the jerusalem artichokes . A couple of years ago I planted some in an old barrel half partly on the basis of how they spread comments . I didn't touch them as I wanted them to get established. However , the barrel which was second or probably fourth or fifth hand gave up the ghost ...

Re: Disproportionate storage

If anyone can find an historical example of a situation where bread , potatoes and pasta have disappeared but bacon and butter have still been plentiful I'd be glad to hear of it. A bit odd historical fact - I am from Central Asia and, during Perestroika, we could buy meat on the market because the...

Re: How long can you sustain your family on your stored food? And tips how to rotate

Things might run a bit faster with a WW3 scenario. Plus unless we 'won' rationing might become the new permanent, like Cuba, or maybe NK. Rationing could just take so many forms. Food price inflation is a dirty version that we face now. Could/Would government regulate a fair and more social system ...

Re: Small House storage,

And also the possibility that action will be taken against "hoarding" in the event of a real situation. In WW2 there was anti-hoarding propagada, public sentiment was strongly against anyone thought to be hoarding and in some countries this was enforced legally too. Thinking about the las...

Re: How long can you sustain your family on your stored food? And tips how to rotate

I now start thinking if I should reduce my food storage to 1.5-2 months. These are the reasons: 1. I suspect financial difficulties are more likely than food in my case Agreed. I'm afraid a lot of preppers get focused too much on gear and stocks ( not just on here , I've visited several other sites...

...not everything will suddenly disappear... Agree - I remember the 80s in the USSR: yes, some food and good items suddenly disappeared from the shelves (soap, flour, sugar, matches, cigarettes, alcohol is what I remember well because they were readily available before and then suddenly disappeared...
