In modern day life it's generally a benefit until it doesn't work properly. In the future it will be the same, a huge advantage until it packs up and you can't fix it. Planned obsolescence has its own end of life story.

Its all too easy to suffer from prepper fatigue folks.
IT (Insert your preferred flavour of SHTF here) has been building up for quite a while now and the suspense is literally killing some people.
It can be hard to switch off and chill out sometimes.

We noticed a spike in what I call “freezer filling” internet orders today at work. The actual footfall was a lot lower too - and proper social distancing was more evident. Thanks for the heads up. We've had a few landies in our time but are getting too old for the bone shakers these days. We are on the look out for a 4x4 at the moment to replace our Skoda Superb estate so you never know....

Re: Batteries
We've been using AA and AAA rechargeable batteries from poundland for several years without any problems whatsoever. The brand names tend to change (currently Kodak) but haven't let us down yet and you get a decent quantity for your money. I think Ive had one AAA go bad in maybe three years.
