Re: Became a prepper this week - Ebola concerns

As you're talking about a generator and stores of diesel I'm assuming you're not in a flat but a house and therefore have a useable "outside" :) Have you considered permanently sited off-grid solar panels and a small battery bank instead of the generator? They are totally silent and can pr...

Re: Hello from Teesside!

Hi AfricanPrepper! Welcome to the forum and great first post! Yes switching over to tinned is tricky when you've spent a long time improving your fresh food intake! However, the good thing I discovered when I started looking at tinned food was that its quality has improved tremendously since I was a...

Re: Ebola Gear

The goggles, masks, suits and gloves are disposable. You wear them once and then incinerate. I would suggest thinking about at least having a couple of bowls of bleach at the entrance to your house which you trudge your feet and hands through before removing the items. Or perhaps a garden pump actio...

Re: Hi from London

Hi and welcome from fellow Londoner! Yes being an urban prepper is perhaps a slightly different mentality - well different from the US preppers who believe that the city is the last place you want to be should anything faecal head towards the fan, though most UK preppers are not so Bug Out To The Wi...

Re: Became a prepper this week - Ebola concerns

Welcome to the forum :) I so hear you! I'm also in London and now work from home...

Re: Lamp oil

Won't help you unless you live in SE London but I get mine from my local hardware store for about the same price as pseudonym. You might have a similar store nearby but didn't think to look in for lamp oil: it's the kind that has cheap, brightly coloured plastic bowls, buckets, brooms and other simi...

Re: menu for a week

Have to confess I have a large box filled with treats like chocolate bars, sweets and toffees etc  No need to be embarrassed! I too have a clearly labelled *large* tub full of TEOTWAWKI chocolate (and other sweeties!). Any crisis looks better from the other end of a Bounty bar! :D The Hawaiia...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week

Have been restocking the "pandemic kit" since my lengthy flu outbreak in August depleted a number of medicinal items! Today I ordered a few Tyvek suits. I have other protective stuff like gloves, FFP3 masks, goggles, plastic sheeting, and sanitizers but realised I'd never actually got arou...

Re: Fall - Winter Preparations

Well this year it's purchasing more sun-screen, checking the fans are functioning, buying anti-perspirant, adding to the t-shirt and shorts collection, maybe developing an automatic watering system for the garden. Winter, what winter? 25C in London yesterday! What the...? :tinfoil
