Re: When to use your food stash

The method I use is only to store larger amounts of the most regularly consumed items and just one or two of the less frequent. I have a reasonably large food store, but rarely do I get close to a use by date. And on the odd occasion that does happen I have no qualms about eating tinned or dried foo...

Re: Hello from Austria

Hello stefan. Welcome. Great grandpa was Austrian. He read the signs early on in the last great prepping incident and bugged out to England. I know nothing about star trek. I suppose it's a life stefan, but not as I know it. Somewhat mature gal, with most definitely no cats. The locals already think...

Re: Antihistamine alternatives

I don't really suffer....
But.....
there is a guy from Kent, who is the editor of one of the Bushcraft magazines.
He once told me that he makes his own natural antihistamine replacement/treatment.
Maybe the bushcrafty people have an answer?

Re: Rabbit

God that takes me back piglet. My dad used to spend an hour or so a day when I was wee, digging for lugworms. I didn't know they were getting rare. When I was a youngster, lugworm casts were so numerous there was little space between them. Now I have been walking at low tide and had to search to fi...

Re: Woodlands??

Buying woodland is a lovely idea. It's not cheap, and there are loads of regulations that apply. But many people do it. Their own little piece of paradise to watch wildlife. In fact most people who do buy woodland are doing it with wildlife uppermost in their minds. Now I grew up in the countryside....

Re: Rabbit

I used to make money by wiring rabbits too , when I was a lad! My dad used to put long lines down with lobworm for eels. Sadly eels are in decline. Never tried long-lining for Eels, but growing up by the sea we regularly laid sand lines at low tide, during the winter months. That was back in the da...

Re: Rabbit

When I was a child Rabbit was eaten often. The first ever pocket money I earnt was from selling, to the local traders, wired Rabbits caught locally and Eels caught from the lower reaches of the river. Now there is a Seagate across the river mouth preventing Elvers from entering the river. And VHD2 i...

Re: Fig trees: food and medicine

Back to the original mention of reducing blood sugar.
I believe Almonds are supposed to have similar properties.
