Re: Gadgets everywhere
Technology is like fire. A good servant and a lousy master. As Bosworth has pointed out, it can save your bacon. But as preppers we also need to consider what happens if the "system" goes down. Can we cope? will that Internet of Things fridge or washing machine still run if the internet g...

Re: Gadgets everywhere
Hope she left having changing all the passwords and retaining internet wide control..... Ohhh 3am time to set the central heating to 300°c  It is getting to the point where every household device is becoming "smart" and knobs and switches are dying out in favour of touch screens ...

Re: surviving the evacuation
I've really enjoyed these books simply for the pleasure of reading and nothing else. My other favourite books are the Blue Plague series by Thomas A Watson. Lots of building a prepping community stuff, but a little far fetched when it includes gathering helicopters and planes, building huge armies,...

Re: Wide mouthed Stainless thermos..
BTW I have a bog brush (bought new for the purpose) I use as a bottlebrush because regular ones are a bit skinny Brand new brush usually for behind radiators or blinds here. I just use snips to take off what I want lengthwise, then bend the ends round so the bristles don't escape/there are no sharp...

Re: Wide mouthed Stainless thermos..
Got a bog standard one from Argos. Just rinse well, soak in hot & soapy, then wash thoroughly - a big bottle brush can help with that. If it smells, I leave it standing filled with water & a tablespoon of bicarb. Anything I have like that, if it's stored long term, it gets a tablespoon of b...

Re: Small containers for burying
We buy baking soda in bulk, and it comes in buckets with very well fitting lids, which we then keep to store other things in. They seem to be pretty air & water tight, and you could deploy an inner lining as well as gaffa tape around the edge to double up on that. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pro...
