Re: Advice for a hopeless gardener

I am jealous. Mine are growing ike wildfire but are yet to flower. How do you plan to feed your courgette to the family? There's only me & MrJJ and he doesn't (Knowingly) like courgettes. If I get my harvest up to three by the weekend, I'll probably make courgette fritters for myself....

Re: Advice for a hopeless gardener

See my Beautiful Courgette... Seedling planted in my tardis composter on 7 May, so this has literally taken only 7 weeks! I'm adopting the approach of harvest early, harvest often. This little tinker is 1" longer than my ilegal 3" knife. There will be a couple more this size by Saturday. T...

Re: Advice for a hopeless gardener

It's scab. RHS guide here: https://www.rhs.org.uk/disease/potato-scabs Scab is worst on dry or alkaline soil. Guess what I have? The pot of earlies in the greenhouse that I failed to water consistently got it. The volunteers in the compost heap are uaually fine while the ones behind the greenhouse ...

So. I'd plonked 4 spuds into a couple of plastic recycling boxes. Two in Coir and two in a mix of coir and soil Anyone care to diagnose the scabby ones? I hope it's NOT fungal..... But I suspect it is. Had a similar warty crop last year, but put that down to bad watering.. Dammit! I dug out under t...

Re: Advice for a hopeless gardener

Have a chuckle at my expense..... So. I'd plonked 4 spuds into a couple of plastic recycling boxes. Two in Coir and two in a mix of coir and soil No real attention. I tried to stop them totally drying out and added one feed to each. I've been desperately waiting for some of my spuds to die back and ...

Crikey. Y_A was right. SOME Home bargain have got discontinued stock of Powerbanks for 99p They're only 1,500mAh but come with either iphone or micro(?) USB sockets. Now.... 1,500mAh is barely a good set of 3 AAA cells, but they may be worth it just for bits. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sole-s...

Re: Black pepper advice

Just bought 10 large ground black pepper pots from aldi with a sell by date mid 2025 . How will this store long term any ideas 💡 Thanks If something has a best before that's X years ahead, then I'm inclined to double it at least. So, mid2027. It's a rather odd thing to buy 10 of. But I guess they'd...
