Re: Bug out bag

It suits my needs. I'm not going to be living in the woods, I'll probably be bedding down with my family in a group if we ever left in a rush, or we'd have loaded up the caravan and headed somewhere safe. This little axe isn't going to take down a redwood, but it will help prepare firewood and make ...

Re: Bug out bag

Regarding the axe/hatchet situation - Go Outdoors just reduced the price of the Bear Grylls Gerber Hatcher. I just bought one for £22.50. Very pleased.

Re: Bug out bag

Just a quick note on stuff to go in it. I've put tons of rubbish in mine over the last few years and there are things that I used to think were essential but now I think is just faff. There are many many many misleading YouTube videos that will cost you a fortune if you're not paying attention. Be c...

Re: Portable charger for phone

I've got several of these hanging around. My pocket carry bow has an 8ah battery, bulky but I never go without power. My bag has a 20ah one inside. Even after three months they hold a lot of charge. Word of warning though... Sometimes if you come to need to they start acting temperamental. No idea w...

Re: Bug out bag

Terribly sorry for causing offence with my use of said word. It's all about intent vs reception with language and even though I didn't mean happy it also was not with reference to where people stick their sausages. It's just a word that where I come from means not good... As in, unfashionable, uncoo...

Re: Digital verses analog radio

Also, regarding digital, I don't know much, but to be honest, my experience is they're utter balls. Give me analogue any day in a crisis. Don't rule out internet radio on your phone, it's a useful resource if you have 4G or wifi.

Re: Digital verses analog radio

I love this topic - one cannot repeat it enough times. :D I have the Degan solar/wind up one. It's the best radio ever (for me). It works in the day, even on a cloudy day, just through the solar panel and has really good reception. I've bought three of them and I'm going to buy another for my dad. I...

Edited by moderator.

Have a look at The Urban Prepper's videos on the tier system of bags. It's what I've done. Depending on the time you have to get out and the method of transport it offers options.

Re: Money suggestions

I think Jaffab has written some really logical and rational bits of advice down there. It may be worth laminating for some... Me, for example. Thanks for taking the time to share, it's good to keep thinking about - asking myself questions before I buy etc, I need to make that more of a habit. Jansma...

Re: Fray Bentos Pies

I wonder if there is a way to heat these bad boys up easy while out and about. I've not got an oven in my go bag. I do like these pies - perfect comfort stodge.
