Re: Cyalume chemlights
I used to use a lot of cyalumes, especially the IR ones. They seem to be the most unreliable of the lot. More often than not, around 20% of them would not work (DUDS). So make contingencies for this and maybe carry some spares. If in doubt which to get, go for the standard yellow/green ones... If yo...

Re: Lidl's rechargable batteries
The batteries are ok, ive used lots of them, they last me about 18 months before i see them degrade. I know someone who uses the charger and their batteries don't seem to last long at all compared to his other chargers. The charger just seems to be a speed/fast charge not a trickle charge (which can...

It's a great idea, i have one which i convert to drinking water via filtration......
We live in a very wet country so why not. I had to modify my roof slightly to increase the surface catchment area, its great when you can get something for free.

Re: Generator experts (repair / replace) ?
Definately go for the Honda. I tried the cheaper option of a Hyundai 3KW gene.... It was great for a couple of years, now the voltage regulator needs replacing and doesnt give out pure sine wave, only quasi sinewave, still workable but doesnt run sensitive electronic eqpt.

Definately a good move, nice one! There are so many differing scenarios that this will give you the option of 'Getting-Out' and away. Remember there may never be a SHTF start time. A scenario might crop up and develop slowly, just depends on how early you react and read the situation, this is the cr...

Re: How many candles? testing 1-2-3
I bought some cheapo tealights (100 pack 4hr burn) from Tesco just to try them out. DONT BOTHER i know you get what you pay for, but these were shite!!! They lasted around 2 hours. The wicks burn down really quick and the quality of the wax was noticeably different from other varieties i have. I alr...

Re: Lifesaver Bottle
Thanks for the tip LEO, i could really kick myself for not buying the pack. Yet i am also frustrated at the fact that you only really get to find out about the 2 year shelf life after you have bought the damn thing. These are not exactly cheap.... I class them as luxury items. My next question is - ...
