Re: Storage query

to make that space useful, you need to do two options, one is to heat control that space. put simply a n extract fan will help. by having it set to temp not time. the great plan being that as heat rises the loft heats up, extract that hot air by pulling in colder air from downstairs to replace it. a...

Re: clear plastic sheets

Not quite sure if the comment was directed to me so I should perhaps have added that I've done just that with some of the glass I've got and it resisted completely. It has seven layers if I recall corrrectly (and probably came out of a bank )which means it's very resilient but the downside is that ...

Re: clear plastic sheets

Have you considered laminated glass? That can take a certain amount of effort to get through and if backed by a steel mesh would be very difficult. Kicking around the garden I have some bits of multilayered laminate rather than the two glass and one plastic layers of regular laminated glass and tha...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

serious side question: Does dehydrating celery work? My spag bol is nothing without celery, but that's like 99% water? Celery works. It does indeed take longer but I did long strips as I was feeling lazy and didn't want it falling through the gaps in my dehydration trays . If you like celery, the t...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

[/quote] OMG. I tip my hat to you. You are a hardcore prepper. I'm going to have to go off and read your posts. Quick general question? How do you select safe places for these caches? Presumably buried secretly and without permission in obscure locations? Have you ever got in grief for that? What I ...

Re: Snow socks for cars

the general idea with a snow sock is to clog with snow and to adhere snow to the wheel, this inturn grips better on the snow on the road, in practise i find it filed the wheel arch up and causes me grief some times

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

Interesting. I guess you mean 'barrel cache'? So do you store your stockpile (of food? ) in outdoor buried containers? What sorts of items? What sort of containers? and why do you revisit and replenish them? Rotation? What do you see as the pros and cons of this? Bugging out? Lack of space at home?...

Re: Snow socks for cars

socks are a better idea for me as i drive on a lot of slush and snow rather than ice and snow , the down side for me is that they wear very quickly on tarmac and a pain to get on and off. its the sort of thing i would keep in the car to get me self out of a stuck spot but not really wear all the tim...
