I would love a lathe, I have set up a spring pole lathe for woodwork before but a metalwork one would be awesome.

Re: Furloughed Workers
Well, I'm on furlough now. Honestly, what an idiot, I hate being put in a position like this, but to be honest I'm an employer's nightmare, I know employment law better than most HR departments and I am bloody minded enough to fight, I just wish people would actually think about these things when th...

Re: Food Delivery Alternative suppliers
I was wondering about abel and cole (are they still going?) Or the other weekly veg box deliveries, there's some farms and wholesalers here that do them, potluck again but I used to find them quite fun when I got one, it was like being on ready steady cook but without Ainsley's nonsense, not a bad w...

Re: Furloughed Workers
You know that, I know that, I would even venture that my employer knows that, but he thinks the rules don't apply to him and he has the right to free taxpayer's money. He has sent out another email, that everyone will receive a personal email by midnight and this will supersede the previous email. &...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.
Have been redeployed to covid palliative care ward - first shift tomorrow. Let's hope its really boring - ie not busy. Thanks for doing what you do, utmost respect for anyone on the front line of this particular battle. Stay safe and do the best you can, but don't let it get to you, turning up for ...

Re: Furloughed Workers
I logged in to an email this morning saying that we are all furloughed as of the first of march, yes, I did say march. Basically it seems that my employers plan is to have us all continue to work, but for 80% pay, which he will claim from HMRC, so we will work without it costing the company anything...

Re: So what have we learnt?
I found the letter I was referring to in my earlier post, it's a thought-provoking read: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/27/a-letter-to-the-uk-from-italy-this-is-what-we-know-about-your-future Good find, I can't say I enjoyed reading it, because I didn't, but it was something that needed...

Re: Bush craft knife
You already have the best bushcraft knife that you're going to get for less than 50 quid, my advice if you want something a bit more flash is save up bit and have a look at the TBS Boar. Made by the bushcraft store, I used one of their blade blanks to make my own, my handle is custom but the blade i...

Re: Water
2 water butts or even more. You can set them up so they overflow into each other if you have the space. I got mine subsidised by the local water company, have a look on the website for your one as that's where I found the link, they were pretty much half price, and you will probably find that your l...

Re: Long-Term Food
I'd say more like a vesta curry or chow mein than a pot noodle. (Suspect I'm showing my age a bit here!) They'll do if you don't have the space to store normal food that has a long shelf life, but I personally wouldn't want to eat them for more than a week, I used to take them hiking, (I make my own...
