Re: Mental Health for prepping.
It is good that people are talking more about mental health nowadays as until recently you just Did. Not. Do. It. Having had some minor episodes in the past, I was worried about the question on job applications that asked about them but realised I was more likely to be in trouble if the bosses found...

Re: Being hounded to get a smart meter
We changed electricity suppliers at our last house and the new one insisted that they needed a smart meter installing. Okay, we said. Meter man came and changed it. Oh, he said, it's not connecting to the internet, oh yes it is, oh no it's not. After 2 hours he gave up and said he'd be back in 3 mon...

If you really can't stand tinned fish there is no point in even looking at it. You will still hate it if it's the only thing left to eat!

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
Oh yes, Lil. Until recently I took my health for granted, having been ridiculously healthy all my life until the last few years. Now I aim to keep as healthy as possible within my limitations. Today's prepping was to put a book and small craft kit in my grab bag. This then reminded me that I also ne...

Re: Heat Pumps are Pants!
At our last house, a Victorian stone built farmhouse, we had the energy saving expert round to tell us what we could do to improve its performance. He said in no circumstances should we install a heat pump as our house was far too leaky for it to have any effect. We went for wood fired heating. Our ...

Remember Jenny, the easiest way to get rid of temptation is to give in to it. I think that was Oscar Wilde.

Re: Storm Otto
Is your power back on yet? The only "problem" we had was the recycling bin blowing over just before I got up (according to Mr A). The dog had a short walk along the road as I did not fancy dodging falling tree branches. Coming home was a bit more difficult. I will inspect the damage tomorr...

Re: Dog bark
When my mum moved into her current house, my brother put a camera in the front window so she could tell who was at the door before answering. When she answered the door to two men one day, when one started speaking to her the other said, "Is that a camera?" When she replied in the affirmat...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10
Ordered a greenhouse today despite there still being snow on the ground. It will be delivered in a few weeks to give us time to prepare the base. I bet the base isn't ready in time as we take a loooooong time to do anything. Nothing changes there, it took us ages to do things when we were both in th...

Re: Cash or card?
For small amounts I use cash but for larger amounts I usually use a card. There's a greengrocer near my sons' house which still prefers cash and the woman in front of me ran into trouble because she wanted to pay by card. They had to go to the shop next door to use their card reader.
