Re: RAYNET
RAYNET is purely aimed at helping outside agencies to communicate in adverse situations. There is no "prepper" outlook beyond being able to operate as a radio service provider. (Which does include up a mountainside in bad weather for a prolonged period.) You won't find any interest in most ...

RAYNET
A contact of mine tells me RAYNET ( The radio amateurs emergency network) has been asked to check on their "resilience". In particular their ability to function in a prolonged national blackout. This is part of a rolling national exercise called Exercise Lemur. They have been asked to conf...

If you want to monitor how much they are going in and out perhaps a trail camera might give you what you want. Discrete they will take pictures when triggered by any inra red source intheir field of view. If spottted you are looking for foxes / rats / whatever. Humans are infra red sources as well o...

The T800 is an American FRS radio so it is not legal in the UK or Europe. Nor is it compatible with PMR radios The T82 is a UK / European standard PMR radio. It is legal and needs no licence. pro / con generator v Jackery ( or similar)
After a chat with my wife ( who is supportive of my prepping) I was left thinking. Currently we are being warned that the heat may cause electricity failures in the next few days and that this winter gas shortages etc may in the "reasonable worst case scenario" lead to power cuts never min...

Thermos cooking
Has anyone done any experimenting with this? It strikes me as potentially useful if the current worries about power cuts etc materialise this winter. The idea is to put hot liquid and ingredients into a thermos falsk and then just leave it. After a period of time ( usually hours) the food is cooked....

To position a "stealth" radio ham antenna some suggest fishing line and a tennis ball. Catapults are also recommended but are less readily available.
Perhaps that and use the fishing line to pull a stronger rope over rather than throwing something potentially damaging like a socket?

Re: Pocket SAS Survival Book In Zipped Wallet
Tip from my optician years ago. Before using a magnifying glass try a bright light. It does work. I needed to read the tiny print on food packets to look for allegens for my ( then young) son. I struggled and used a magnifier. After his tip I used a pocket torch. It makes a big difference. I mean ho...

Petrol storage advice from the HSE.

This covers homes as well and when you need to notify PEA,
Interestingly the rules on diesel are not made clear.
