Re: Rush 5.11 bag... new style in the UK?

OK, I'm not ACTUALLY planning to mug anyone, but the whole tacticool thing is a bit beyond me. And it just seems to scream "I've got some tasty kit on me!". I use a variety of utterly ordinary bags for my kit, and they all work, as well as being substantially cheaper.

Re: Essential Oils for FAK's

Perhaps a "Mobile Medicine Kit" then? I travel a bit with work and as well as having a good-ish FAK I do carry a variety of painkillers, meds etc. I've been stuck in hotels at weekends with earache wishing for a drop of olive oil and a few paracetamol, never again.

Re: Rush 5.11 bag... new style in the UK?

When TSHTF, and I'm trying to get home, I'm mugging the first guy I see with these and putting all the kit I plunder from the bag into my Sainsburys bag for life! Why advertise that you are prepped? I even saw someone carrying one of these in Euston with the words "grab bag" stencilled on ...

Re: What is everyone growing this year?

Sarcastic? No, very serious! That's how I work things out. I was wondering about refrigerating seed potatoes for that very purpose. I have some very slow-chitting potatoes in the conservatory at the moment and am succession-planting them to see how late I can get them. I grew Black Spanish Round/Wie...

Re: What is everyone growing this year?

Because we were due for rain, I planted 200 leeks today. A solid Winter crop. That's 4 leeks pw for nearly a year - will it be enough? I like leeks a lot, I realised with dismay at the weekend that I am about to run out of space, unless I move another half-tonne of old carpet and get swinging the m...

Re: Hawthorn

Nearly five mate. I've had several tetanus shots over the years, working with rusty metal is good for something  I just had a passing thought about finding which country is an utter plague-pit and telling the NHS that I've booked a holiday there..... Anyone know some place you need a smallpox*...

Re: Essential Oils for FAK's

Potentially an interesting discussion. As well as carrying essential oils, you would also need to know how to apply them. FOr instance you'd use Eucalyptus oil quite differently for sinusitis than for thrush. I can recommend Stephen BUhner's book on herbal antibiotics, and Herbs for Home Treatment, ...

Re: What is everyone growing this year?

Nice feeling, isn't it? We are slow on produce this year, but this morning we had breakfast of home-cured bacon, home-made bread, and home-made gooseberry jam from last year's crop. Got some more squash in, brought some new ground into cultivation, by removing half-a-tonne of old carpet and digging ...

Re: What is everyone growing this year?

I mention that I have been keeping my seeds because I just think that it's a waste of time and money to buy things that nature gives us for free (or included in the price of the fruit and veggies that we buy) anyway. Well, up to a point, but given the nature of modern agri-business there's every ch...

Re: group survival?

I would expect someone who lives in London to have that opinion, after all you are surrounded by people every day, but some of us are individualists and can happily live without having people around us. as for broken bones and the like, how many times have you broken a bone? I have broken my arm on...
