Re: non locking knives, a rant!
I'm not encouraging anyone to carry knives as a daily task, but I'm a little confused what the issue is here - is it a legal thing that no-on wants to break the law, or is it a case of 'i don't want risk carrying a technically illegal knife in case i get stopped and searched? Because on the assumpti...

Re: Off grid incubator
I'm sure i saw an old egg incubator on an episode of Edwardian Farm, it was heated with a candle or something similar, might not sound very safe (and i may be wrong on the exact heat source, but it definitely wasn't electric. do a google search for antique egg incubator. might give you some ideas :D

Re: Gerber Dime Review
However the lifetime warranty is good , broke mine being hamfisted and got a new one no questions asked....... I'll second this, I've had experience with Gerber customer service after i broke a screwdriver on my MP400 multi-tool. I enquired about getting the broken bit replaced and was told to send...

Re: Burying your head in the sand???
Yorkshirewolf, apparently there are lots of gas hobs that need electricity to work, something about the ignition being *completely* disabled without electricity. I have a gas hob, but its an early one, no leccy needed - I switched off at the mains one day to check  However ... I do take yo...

Re: Burying your head in the sand???
I know quite a broad spectrum of people, some are quite well prepared for emergencies, some panic when they can't find the charger for their phone! One lady who's a friend of my wife recently had a powercut, she was moaning about it afterwards saying she couldn't even have a cup of tea for four hour...

Re: Hello from Huddersfield
Hi Hamradioop, thanks for the welcome. I don't really have anything specific in mind when prepping, it's just something that was either drilled into me as a young 'un or have learned from experience when i've been out and thought; 'wish i'd done that/brought some of those/added some of them to my ba...

Re: What's the use of prepping when...
Done the keys in the door and used to leave it open loads. We used to live in the country in Berkshire, quite a posh area, and left the door unlocked all the time, it was a case of 'we're only going for a walk around the farm' Being security conscious, i did used to think 'i really need to stop bein...

Hello from Huddersfield
Hello all, New member, been lurking for a while and thought it best to sign up and participate. I'm not too sure what type of prepper i'd class myself as, being prepared is something i kind of grew up with and developed as i gained knowledge and experience, so from the basic preps of having some pac...
