Re: new member

Hi. If you know an excellent website for British foraging I'd love a recommendation. I can't find one which contains pictures good enough for an amateur like me.

Re: No cost or low cost preps

Great post idea. Well I started writing a list but it got too long. So many skills and so much knowledge to be gotten from the internet. Except fitness - and that's free too. The only prep I think is really necessary to horde is food. Other than that, I reckon with an axe and a knife and a ferro rod...

Re: DIY manpack Water Filter- anybody tried ?

Sort of off topic, but when camping, I use a small piece of aquarium sponge over mouth of water flask or container to remove gunk, from running water, before boiling or passing through the sawyer. I've never understood the logic of using a bandana and suchlike. Sponge is easier to clean and dry, but...

Re: DIY manpack Water Filter- anybody tried ?

Just be sure you know what such a filter won't do. A mini-sawyer filter stops pretty much every living thing from getting through, but doesn't stop viruses or chemicals/heavy metals etc. A homemade filter with charcoal could take out at least some chemicals/heavy metals, but won't stop viruses or ve...

Re: BOB/GHB clothing for Britain.

Aldi and Lidl do them occassionally, and they're around 15-25 quid. They have his and hers tops, larger tops with thumb holes in the sleeves and a higher zipped neck, and long johns. You just have to kinda pop in to a store and see if they're in - and when they're in buy everything you need. I'll ta...

Google "LK35" for my recommendation. And the best review is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcVEsNSJQC8. Bear in mind this is bushcrafting, so of limited duration and coming home, not INCH.

....and if you limit it to drinking water only (using filtered/boiled rainwater/ground water for cooking) then it's around 2.5 litres per day.

Re: BOB/GHB clothing for Britain.

I've tried a synthetic wicking t-shirt. Not by Under Armour though. Maybe it was because it was not so expensive, but it just doesn't perform at all as well as my merino stuff. I've become a complete merino wicking layer fanboy since starting this thread - and I'm using the cheap stuff from the chea...
