Re: So close to SHTF

I think the conclusion to be drawn here is preparation in depth , not concentrating on just one thing. Food stocks are great but far less so if you're forced out of you home because you can't pay the bills , money is great too but if the shop shelves are empty , all that dried food is great but if t...

Re: So close to SHTF

Money, money money... I'd second that. Clear as much debt as possible to reduce out goings, manage the incoming as closely as possible and build up a cushion preferably in cash and close to hand . It might not be as sexy as gear but it is very versatile , it can buy food , fuel , pay for emergency ...

Re: Swedish crypto

Cheers , I didn't click on any of the links in that article , perhaps a combination of cynicism and fear or worry . Hope you aren't bothered with too any unwanted calls.
Perhaps the thread title needs changing to "Swedish crypto scam" .

Re: The pliers in my pocket

Stainless spike perhaps? That seems to be much harder to get a spark off. Either way my pliers are hardly what one would call new or even fairly new.

Swedish crypto

Has anyone else seen this ? https://lessonsforsmbmanagment.com/2018/02/16/3-marketing-tips-for-startups/ Seems the Swedish government is backing a new crypto currency if the link s to believed. It talks of huge profits to be potentially made although I'm still dubious . I know some see these as Ponz...

Re: My EDC bag. A brief tour on how i started and where i'm

Certainly a lot more than I carry , well at least on my person I do stuff in my van . I recently started a thread about a pair of pliers I carry and those not all of the time . However , if you wish to carry more that's your prerogative and it looks like you've put considerable thought into what you...

Re: The pliers in my pocket

I was always under the impression that fencing pliers had a hammer head and I agree with forge about the use of non ferrous tools for blasting work , not that I've done any but have experience with black powder cannon via re-enactment where pretty much all the tools were brass.

Re: The pliers in my pocket

I think it's a "drift spike". When you are aligninig two drilled bits of metal, you use the spike to line up the holes so you can put a bolt or rivet in. Makes sense at least with thin pieces. The spike on mine is around 1/4" thick and 1/2" long before the curve of the handles s...

The pliers in my pocket

I know a lot of people carrry a multi tool of one form or another. I carry a Swiss Army knife practically all the time and that is often augmented with a pair of pliers probably down to that doing the job and me also probably being too tight to buy a shiny new multi tool. Now to the pliers . They ar...
