Re: Risky Bean Rotation???

When myself and my mum cleared out my nan's flat, along with the box full of live hand grenades that still baffle me, we found a packet of powdered egg from the war!

I didnt eat it, and mum wouldn't let me keep the grenades, bad times.

Anything acidic is unlikely to contain botulism, so tomatoes and stuff like that, basically it's the tins with the visible plastic lining, all tins are lined but these are thicker, they can still spoil but botulism is unlikely, sometimes the acid will eat through the lining, this will result in it s...

Just tell them that you're putting in a rainwater harvesting system to use to flush your loo and be more eco friendly, they'll just think you're a hippie.

Re: Furloughed Workers

Much the same plan as me Jansman, no one in my industry is recruiting, and if I go back to one of my former industries I'll be earning the same or considerably less, and have the risk of having to go to work.

I'm staying in.

Re: Furloughed Workers

There's actually a petition going for commission based workers. Quite lot of jobs rely on commission, including mine, although I am fortunate in that I have a decent basic. It's here if anyone wants to have a look. https://www.change.org/p/uk-parliament-request-for-furlough-leave-to-include-salespeo...

Re: Can anyone with financial knowledge help?

At some point you had a workplace pension and some of the national insurance that would have gone into your pension pot went into the workplace pension. I'm not sure if it's an extra payment though, I think it is telling you what you would have got had the bits that went into your workplace pension ...

Re: So what have we learnt?

My grandad has a pair of Frankenstein glasses that he wears in his workshop, he was always complaining that he smeared grease on them when switching from his reading glasses to his distance glasses, so he wired together two broken pairs and now has a distance lens in one eye and a close up lens in t...

Re: Furloughed Workers

This is true, but they'll have to find the money, an insolvent business in my industry means that the business won't be coming back as the directors won't get FCA permissions again. My solicitor has advised me that they either pay or we take it to a tribunal, any other business can just declare them...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Today I shall finish organising my workshop ( finally get that lathe set up), prick out tomatoes and bottle some homebrew. Oh yes,and service/ sharpen the chainsaws. I would love a lathe, I have set up a spring pole lathe for woodwork before but a metalwork one would be awesome. Sorry, I should’ve ...

Re: Furloughed Workers

Employers are still responsible for paying furloughed workers, the only difference is that they can then claim that money back, my company will be paying me, or they'll be going to a tribunal, their choice. I'm looking around anyway, just seen a rather nice role with the police force, and I'll get a...
