Cheap alert system we have on our outer back door is a wind chime
The dangly bit operates the wind chime when you open the door.
Cheap and affective.

Another gas bottle burner

Made this one ages ago,cost next to nothing. Just put a baffle plate inside,so hopefully minimum sparks. I like stuff that has more than one use. Next bit of this project is a length of copper pipe coiled round the bottom bit of the flue to act as a water heater. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g7...
