Re: Timekeeping/telling the time!

Thing is: If you know GMT and your Local time difference you can calculate the date by measuring noon. If you know the date and Local time difference you can calculate GMT. If you know the date and GMT you can calculate Local time difference (ie Longitude). So, for many things a reliable timepiece b...

Re: Home made anesthetic?

I wrote "Hemp" because thats what they called it back then. I know its different from hemp, the one used for seeds and fibres. Re: Glaucoma. I didn't think it was a cure, just used to manage the symptoms. Thanks for confirming that for me. Squirty cream, the cans are pressurised using nitr...

Re: Log splitters

500mm long split logs go into my boiler lengthways so I don't cut them any shorter. I like the idea of the log splitter but as you suggest, it needs a stop so hands can't be caught under the maul blade. I'd just stick them in my pockets..... But I'm a lazy bugger ;) The Oliver was used in chainshop...

Re: How many candles? testing 1-2-3

I found that ball candles burn for ages..... But they eat wax (a sphere has the maximum volume to surface ratio) I've also got a star-pyramid that's fairly sparing on wax and nearly impossible to knock over I've cast a few in old foil catfood trays (multi wick ones throw tons of light..... And might...

Re: Freeze dried cheese !

Interesting, the cheese is about three times the price. £2.50 for 150 g opposed to £1.00 for 170 g (cheap own brand chedder)...... However, I'm not sure what the water content is. The Biltong I've bought in the past is half the weight of the raw meat so even assuming that cheese is less wet then ste...

Re: weapons

Having something around (or in your car, or on your person) that you are planning on using as a weapon is an offence

Mentioning it on a public forum will only strengthen the Prosecution's case.
