This came up some time ago on this forum and others and perhaps someone will put up a link. As I understand it the idea grew up in ww2 as people tried to find a way to warm up the air raid shelters. As such it really is only something for emergencies rather than "normal" heating of a room....

I don't have an actual bob either , got all the bits and pieces close by just not actually put together. With a little time we could be up and running just not instantly. We do have a case with documents in it that is easy to hand and an amount of cash we could grab very quickly but clothes , blanke...

I've poked my nose into a few pillboxes - most recently this summer on the tidal edge of some National Trust land in Norfolk : Key point there is that you've seen a few rather than the odd one because generally pillboxes were built as part of a line which means there is likely to be another nearby ...

Possibly from a harrow , looks about right and considering there's a pile that would fit too. To be honest I don't know the type or grade of steel so can't really say what new use it could be put to.

In your original post you mentioned getting dropped off some five miles from where you are going to camp.
