Re: Allotments, where to start ?
And grow what you eat. I've met many ppl who say "oh yeah, this grows really well for me so I put it in every year but we don't really like it...." +1 for this! For years I've grown stuff (like chillies) which grow really easily and are very productive in my garden, because then I feel li...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.
Finally assembled my 6x4 foot plastic greenhouse. Only took 15 years! To be honest I'd forgotten I'd bought it - I found it in the back of the shed when I was having a clear out last autumn! Unfortunately the local meeces seem to have used the box as a comfortable home and had nibbled out the ...

If finances will stretch or Facebook local selling comes up trumps look into the refillable bottles Eg (other models exist) http://www.safefill.co.uk/ Then you can refill at local petrol stations with LPG pumps.. much cheaper than calor Oooh had no idea these existed!!! Defo looking into this! In t...

Re: What are you growing / starting off ?
Not going to get much grown this year I think, so concentrating on what I know grows well and easily in my back garden. And what I will eat! Tomatoes and Pak Choi currently. Lettuce to come. I suspect the Jerusalem artichokes will return of their own accord.... Thought I had aubergine seeds bu...

Re: Good kitchen knives
Just my 2p...personally I find 12 inch knives just too big. Dunno if it's because I am small. My main knife is an 8 inch Sabatier - not great but not bad either. Just gotta keep it sharp. I could probably do 10 inches, but so far the 8 inch has been sufficient. It's broad enough to be able to push d...

Re: What preps are you going to do after Coruna?
Yup. I'm definitely going to try to replace stuff (cough...whisky...cough) immediately in the future and not let myself fall into the trap of thinking "oh yeah I need to restock blah, but hey there's plenty of time I'll do it tomorrow!".

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.
Still too early to plant up here but I'm buying up coffee. Anybody know how long coffee beans last before they lose flavour? Freeze them in an air-free bag (so as not to get freezer burn). Take out only as many as you need for your cuppa and blitz them still frozen. If you've bought ready ground, t...

Re: Pocket SAS Survival Book In Zipped Wallet
Magnifiers indeed! I carry a tiny pocket A-Z to get me home on Shank's pony from wherever in London I might be should all else fail. I also carry some +3 glasses so I can actually read the damn pages!
