Re: WARNING - wireless alarms

I can confirm that Cash Converters still gets used for fencing stolen gear. My car was broken into in Feb this year & £2.5k of photography gear stolen from it (stupidly left there by yours truly). It wasn't actual cameras but expensive carbon fibre tripods & stuff that really had no business...

Re: Refrigeration.

(Not sure if the image will work - first time trying to post an inline image here) When I was working overseas as a deployed civvie, we'd regularly find ourselves without hot water in the mornings so placement of my radiator had multiple purposes: 1) It heated the cabin as you'd expect 2) It heated ...

Re: savvy shopping....

Just discussed this with OH who does all our shopping online from Tesco & apparently subs are always priced at the same as your original order, even if better/bigger than what you ordered. Having said that, getting a 4-pack of Egg Custards, instead of a 2-pack, that must be eaten by next day or ...

Re: 30 Water Supply. Completed

It'd be a bit of a pain having to get water from emergency situations like that - on the one hand it wouldn't be easy to transport significant amounts of it logistically (at least for those without cars) & even if you could, it would likely be rationed to some extent. Had a biggie in Telford rec...

Re: ProPur water filters

It's interesting. Coming from London which is well-known for it's "liquid-concrete" water, since moving to the midlands almost 20yrs ago I've NEVER descaled a single item other than my Nespresso machine for the hell of it (after 2yrs).

It can certainly vary hugely depending on location...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 4

I've had a Lil Larry torch in one of my wish lists for a while now. Whilst we're away on a caravan break I happened upon a shop selling them for £9 - cheaper than I'd seen elsewhere so bought one. Liked it so much I popped back for 2 more! So that's one for the caravan, one for the car & one for...

I think the Nitecore looks favourite ATM. I've had a few bits from China without any trouble but not much electrical. Just want to be careful knowing how dangerous Lithium Ion can be if not treated properly...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 4

Just remember that the 18650/14500 battery chargers can be charged from solar panels via the usb cables.... just saying. :D They're a great resource. Indeed, I have a 24w RavPower portable panel that I shall be testing, once I figure out which chargers aren't dodgy chinese imports prone to blowing ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 4

This week I've discovered the wonders of 18650 batteries and the fact that they exist in many laptop batteries, & being the hoarder that I am and slow to get rid of junk I happened to have a few old laptops lying around so started pulling battery packs apart. Found a few potential looking cells ...
