Re: Micro survival kits
Shotgun cartridges are perfectly legal to have about your person, even in the UK You have to have a certificate to buy them but not possess I could go and buy 1000 cartridges on my certificate and give them to my wife as soon as I set foot out of the shop, perfectly legal as no certificate required...

Re: Micro survival kits
I'd personally be wary of using a shotgun cartridge as a container . Not the concept of a small container but I could foresee a situation that is a bit confused or hectic and an under pressure police officer finds shotgun shells on your person ......

Re: Emergency savings
As far as I understand the average wage is a median average , or to put it in other terms half the population will earn £400+ per week while the other half earn less than that amount. Thus as a crude example imagine a factory with 99 employees and one boss. The workers earn £100 per week so with 99 ...

Re: Another little step towards a cashless society.
London buses have been cashless for about a year I was in London over the weekend and was suppressed that a return ticket on the tube was over twice the price when paying with cash compared to contactless payment. Penalising those who pay with cash is one way to speed up the whole cashless society ...

Another little step towards a cashless society.
Ok not directly prepping related but it does tie in with the emergency savings thread and numerous other threads where we talk about keeping a stash of cash just in case. It's my firm belief that TPTB would get rid of cash if they could. Not possible overnight but the concept is steadily creeping up...

Re: Prepping for Poverty???
Buying panels and an accompanying battery bank would be a expensive way to charge up a mobile at least in the short term. Others on here may be able to offer more advice on smaller portable devices and their uses and limitations. With regards to solar panels on rented property it may be worth asking...

Re: Home heating
In the amazon link someone commented that just leaving a newspaper out in the rain , leaving it to dry produces pretty much the same result as the whole brick making malarkey .

Re: Home heating
Oh , one thing I forgot to add. When I tried making these I used , as I said , a car jack but I also made some smaller ones just with my hands sort of a paper snowball . The big advantage was the drying time being so much shorter than the bricks. They are also a bit quicker to produce as well as the...

Re: Home heating
Yes indeed and that very point is made somewhere in the comments in the amazon link . Perhaps I should have said little income , the time AND find yourself in a situation where foraging for fuel is impossible although such situations might be few and far .

Re: Home heating
Interesting and seemingly simple method although I think his two weeks to dry out is somewhat optimistic . http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eko-Mania-Paper-Log-Maker-Green/product-reviews/B000OOCMB2 Have a read of the reviews on the link for other peoples experiences. One has even done a sort of time and mot...
