Re: Prepper -'lite' or full on survivalist

Def prepper lite here too, we have some extra food, we have skills and arent phased by extendedpower cuts but wouldnt be able to continue if society collapsed. I go wild camping on a weekly basis and indeed revel in the bad weather, however to try and do the survivalist thing particularly with famil...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Straw bale's been good, as I say, first time using it this year, grew salad type plants with it (pak choi, chard, radish). I poked fist sized holes into the bales (which hadnt been seasoned) which I then filled with shop bought compost and planted into. Theyre are rotting quite nicely now - should b...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 10

Re: Using old Diesel

From a personal point of view I keep 5x 5 litre plastic cans of petrol plus 16 litres in my motorbike tank and ~ 5 litres of 2 stroke for the chainsaw. I have another old bike I'm doing up so could have another 20 litres in that tank but i don't actually feel comfortable storing any more than I have...

Re: Using old Diesel

Getting mildly off topic, I think even petrol is more stable than some would have you believe. At this time of year I fill my motorbike tank (about 4 gallons), drain out the carburettors and leave it until probably April/May then I just fill the carbs again, press the button and away it goes. Never ...

Re: Using old Diesel

Yup, just use it. I've used diesel that's a couple of years old and was stored in plastic cans in a shed. Went in a modern diesel citreon and an older kia. No problems at all, as others have said just throw it in with some newer stuff.

Re: Preparing for Winter 2023/24

Undersealling's a bloody advisory on your MOT now! Apparently because it can potentially hide rust or other defects so they can't check properly. At least that's wot my mot tester told me last time round.

Re: Now I've seen it all (PotatoSmart)

I needed some resealable glass bottles for homebred so took one for the team and bought a case of grolsch. Win win 🏆
