Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

Miss P - the secret in the really cold months with Easiyo is to wrap a towel around the maker to keep it warm. I find it harder to get a set when it's cold as the water cools a lot quicker and wrapping a towel round it makes a difference. Also using slightly warmer water to mix it up helps too. Ban...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

In my quest to add variety to our stores, which we are now mostly living off on a regular basis so there's no rotation problem, I got myself one of those Easiyo yoghurt makers & a couple of flavours to try out. Because there's just the two of us, we've got the small version that makes 1/2 kilo a...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

I have 2 button tins, one tin full of complete sets of buttons from the 50s onwards, the other is from the 80s onwards as I've always saved buttons - the first tin was saved by my mother who gave them to me when downsizing as she finally realised she was never going to sew anything - but I do. I thr...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

Congratulations! I love mine, just a heads-up, Aldi have their fruit trees in at the moment. £3.49 Apples, Pears, Plums and Cherries and apparently some stores have some soft fruit bushes in too. Thanks for that - I don't live near an Aldi so never know what offers they have on. I've got some fruit...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

I have an ALLOTMENT! Thought I'd maybe get one next Sept as I'd got to the top of the waiting list, but just got my offer through today :-) It's only a small plot, but still it's bigger than my back garden. Perfect timing - I was just working out how many seeds etc.. to plant this year. Doing a happ...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

No debt I have to pay left from the house; he had literally run off in the night so I dealt with the mortgage co. alone. The debts that were attached were in his name only & nothing to do with me, so without the house followed him not me. I did get advice about the situation because it turned ou...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

As long as he never comes back, it's worth every penny! :-) Happen to know he went home to live with his mother & she's welcome to him. Was way over £100,000 of debt at one stage (not including mortgage which was interest only so 0 equity), but I managed to dodge some of his debts by handing our...

Re: What preps are you doing this week? Part 3.

I use Pyrex instead of baking tins & trays for the most part, as they seem to last forever. The chicken roaster I use is over 20 yrs old & cleans up like new. Would like the urid dal recipe too please. I'm currently working on the last phase of being completely debt free forever after my ex ...

Re: What are we planning to grow this year?

I don't seem to do too well with dehydrating so I didn't try dehydrating courgettes. Maybe next year I will as most of the garden will hopefully be easier to manage now I have half an idea what I'm doing. Honestly don't know if they'd work. They do go in pickles if you like that sort of thing. I wan...

Re: What are we planning to grow this year?

Had a fantastic first proper year growing wise. Did a LOT of work in my small garden putting in a greenhouse, setting up raised beds to grow stuff in & it's my first year in a long time actually trying to grow to eat, rather than just growing a couple of things (strawberries, blueberries & p...
