Re: Is my uk legal knife legal to carry or not

Seems to me, stringing a bit of my strange logic together, that a call to or in at the police station would clear it up. I carry a multi-tool in a pouch and would argue that the blade in that tool is legal and as such I can carry it on my person in a pouch, it does happen to be hanging on my person ...

Re: Use for PMR radio

If I'm honest I'd say that while PMR is better than nothing they are a bit poo. If it's an 'emergency' radio you want I would second the Baofeng for a couple of reasons. The PMR system only allows half a watt of power and radios must have an integral antenna which can not be modified. Now the Baofen...

Re: Not sure which would make the better BOV

OK, the deal has been done. We finally bought a Land Rover Discovery 3, 2.7 TD, V6 HSE 5 door beastie. Immaculate vehicle with warranty and is black, so that offers a partial stealth aspect. Dealer is just having it full serviced and a new MOT stuck on then it will be delivered to my drive to growl ...

Re: Frequently asked Quetions

Ian, just a word of warning and some clarification. What we class as the 'amateur bands' are those bands one needs a licence to work on. CB and PMR are not licensed bands and the GT3 only tunes to the licence free PMR section of the 70 cm band which is licence free. However, if you were a stickler f...

Re: Frequently asked Quetions

Ian, first off welcome. The licence is free to apply for once you have a pass certificate or candidate number that the exam center confirms is a pass. The exam costs as does any course or practical assessments should a candidate wish to study for the exam outside of a regulated course. The foundatio...

Re: Radio for listening in to emergency services etc

I just did a google of the radio and it seems the UV-5RC uses a sma antenna. on my baofeng handies I use a sma to PL259 if I ever fancy chucking my handie through my 2 & 70 dipole in't attic.

Featherstick, I can see how they are liked for their MPG but 5 seats is 2 too few for our bug out plans if we ever needed that option.

Re: Not sure which would make the better BOV

Just seen a rather nice land cruiser on a 54 plate.
7 K and just what we seem to be needing.

If my wife put the nasty stuff in a trailer then she's be putting me in there

Still can't get one for 3 weeks but 4x4 porn is rather good way to pass the time :D

Re: Radio for listening in to emergency services etc

Yes, that Nagoya 771 antenna does make a whole lot of difference, It's what I use on my main UV-5R

Meta, If you want to see the woodland areas of Church Farm as well as the open camping field then have a look on youtube for Funky Prepper's 2016 summer preppers meet videos. It is a very good and friendly farm and the staff just let you get on with it but always near if you need them. I give a seco...
