Financial meltdown, ergo solar panels?

Hi all, not been on the site for a while, hope all well! With the well-documented slow financial meltdown this year so far, there's nowhere safe to put your money (and for many of us this is not news!) So essentially I was wondering if anyone would see, even despite the cuts in feed-in tariffs, that...

Re: EDC advice

Hi RomTown, ) found the Heinnie site (I can't believe I've never found that site before! ... I almost literally want everything on there! Yeah likewise! On a general note, I went down the route of an urban survival tin, but on reflection after a year or so, there's not a particularly good reason to ...

Re: Acorn Coffee

Sounds good.. assuming it tastes nice. I have been buying a month's supply of coffee at a time - amazing how quick I get through it :/ Might just have to wean myself off it tbh and get used to herbal teas which are so easy. Still, very interesting, and as someone else said, it has been known as a su...

Re: Prepper Education

It sounds really good in principle. As we are a fairly spread out community, are you thinking of an online course of some kind? There are quite a lot of good books and resources around already, so you'd have to think how you'd make it worthwhile for someone to pay for your time. I can see that peopl...

Re: How to raise money for a home/retreat

Yeah, well apparently not, plus the mortgage payments. .. Yeah borrowing off 3-4 friends/family in exchange for use as a free holiday venue could be an option! He's a fairly junior doc but maybe he needs to sit down with a good financial adviser.

How to raise money for a home/retreat

So, a mate of mine (no, it really is a mate of mine, lol!) wants to buy a house that would be a great site for prepping - land, defensive, low popn etc - but can't afford it. He has a really good salary (he's a GP) but even so, this is a very luxurious spot. He is single and can move quite easily. H...

Re: Hiding Your Equipment

Getting a good hide space is not too hard, especially in a house, but it can be a compromise between well-hidden v's convenient to get at... I like the 'under kkckboards' idea. Under floorboards is a fairly obvious one. I remember hearing (perhaps on here) that burglars pay relatively little attenti...

Re: What are we planning to grow this year?

Many thanks for the tips. The only trouble I've had with growing peas in borders rather than containers is that snails really go for them. Good tip about the composted kitchen waste. I've also heard that it's worth starting them now, and they grow bigger and stronger than if u wait till spring. Yeah...
