Plenty of Mars bars and protein bars - a small hip flask is a good idea, but at the end of the day you've gotta carry it.

G-Shocks (although quite expensive for some models) are a good robust alternative. When it comes to it though, get a watch which has a long battery life and will stand the elements.... at some point it will die, but does it matter? One important aspect come post SHTF would be calenders.... being abl...

That GI surplus store looks pretty good.... loads of different boxes etc...

Johnsons of Leeds is also quite good... a visit is always worthwhile for a rummage around.

Ive tried these sorts of things and they look great - just like their expensive brothers. BUT when you come to use them you realise they just aren't up to the job...
