Re: Cooking - bugging in

Kelly kettles are brilliant but not the best for cooking on, can be done using the support to balance a pan on top the stove and I have on many occasions butbwouldnt be too keen with a child around. If you dont want gas have you thought about using fire gel? The blocks are pretty safe and can be use...

Thanks deeps & Yorkshireandy. I've pretty much got what you both recommend, tinned food, gel stove, lighter matches & fire steel, sleeping bag, shovel, foul weather gear, water & coffee.
Good tip about needing ventilation when the candle flickers, its the 9 hour version that I use -brilliant lamps.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 6.

Just upped the car supplies from 24 hours to 72. Travel all over the Scottish highlands for work and its that time of year! Never been too badly stuck (yet) but would much rather do it in comfort should it happen! As an aside, I have glo sticks in the car but has anyone any experience of using a uco...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

Here's a slightly off topic torch question for the electrical engineers on the forum - in the (possibly unlikely) event of a major EMP event will LED torches still work? It's my understanding that an emp will knock out electronics circuits and it's also my understanding that LED's have a small elect...

Re: Hi all, newbie from swansea

Hi Wiz, as a relative newbie here too I found just getting a couple of weeks food in for the family (just by picking up a couple of cans of food/rice etc every time i set foot in tesco's for beer), it settled that sort of low grade unease that had been lingering. Thankfully already had a lot of outd...

Re: medical equipment at home

Feeling outgunned here ;) my medical kit comprises of gloves, loperamide and tea towels. Thankfully noone in the house is on prescription meds otherwise we'd have them too.
