The rental car has a "sport" mode, might turn that on to stiffen up the suspension to stop it bottoming out when I load it up with 500kg of coal

2°C this morning. Still resisting pressure to turn the oil heating on
Found a guy on gumtree selling off some coal before he moves house at £15 for 50kg. Bought 125kg yesterday, getting another 125kg tomorrow. In open bags, the boot of my rental car may never be the same again

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9
We had the heating on Saturday evening due to having visitors. It's off again now and I've taken the handle off the oil tank valve so it stays off

Re: Any Maglite Experts here...?
Yeah, the olights are a bit gucci.
Worth investigating the LED conversions then. I know when I converted mine they required a minimum of 4.5v (i. e. Three batteries). That was a good few years ago so things may have moved on?

Re: Any Maglite Experts here...?
The 2d's not "bad" it's just (as Yorkshire andy says) very dated and can't be upgraded to an LED so you're stuck with the not very bright incandescent bulb. With regards to your wife using maglites - if you use rechargeable batteries they are considerably lighter. However it may be better ...

Re: Any Maglite Experts here...?
Yup looks like a 2D. Personally I'd leave that one and get another 3D (rare as rocking horse) or 4D and replace the bulb with the LED upgrade. You then have a totally reliable very bright torch and batteries last forever with the LED. It's heft may also be advantageous.

Re: Solar panel repair?
Yeah, you're quite right jenny. Tested the ampage of the repaired panel and it's approx 2/3 of the new panel. Not brilliant but still a useful addition to the array for a few minutes work and fifteen quids worth of epoxy. Also tried swapping over the proper connecting cables with the jury rigged hou...

Re: Solar panel repair?
Ah, right, thanks jenny. I'll check the ampage later today. I'm also using an old piece of household flex to connect the repaired one as well. I'll try swapping over to thd proper lead to see how much difference that makes. With regards to the broken area - all the glass was shattered (think 1970's ...

Re: Solar panel repair?
Replacement panel arrived today so I could do a side by side comparison. Bright sunny day, panels lying side by side flat on the lawn in direct sunlight, new one produced 22v, repaired one 20.5v. That'll do me :) although the epoxy resin has gone a bit cloudy over the last few days, hopefully there'...
