Re: Morse Code

The only method of comms that will get through the toughtest of conditions. Learning morse is one thing but being able to RX it more than 5wpm is another.... Average speed of 'live' on air morse should be around 12wpm. Learning to this level with punctuation and numbers mixed in and your talking mon...

Re: EDC advice

Unfortunately in this country the majority are criminals who carry the blades we all would like. I wouldn't risk carrying a locking blade, if you are caught without a valid excuse then its gonna take some pretty lengthy explanation. Try one of these - Then watch McGyver http://assets.victorinox.com/...

Re: What's your situation?

Gone through rough times recently, lost a house (various reasons) and now down to my pension only for income.
Still survivable - I am preparing for anything from TEOTWAWKI / SHTF WROL to burglars and rough times.

Re: What To Replace British Army Assualt Boots With?

Haix are a good functional boot that are comfortable in urban and rural terrain, as well as coping well with long distances, but as with all boots - your feet and the boot have to be broken in well. I have a pair and got them Grade 1 used from an army surplus store for £30 - If your getting a used p...

Re: The modern survival manual

Agree. This is a very good book that brings the perspective of modern day preparedness down to earth. With real experience and common sense advice. Thoroughly recommend this one. Fernando's You Tube channel is very good too. He also has another book out - Bugging out and relocating - Worth getting i...

Re: Zippo lighter for £4.99

Got one out of curiosity. The first edition gives you the 'Florentine' version. Also got one from a £Shop and compared the two. Zippo: Has that nice clunk and click when opened... Pretty cool sound. Solid feel. Wadding is covered with a thick layer of felt Pound Shop version: Sounds Tinny Works as p...

Re: Slingbow as a good addition to BOB for SHTF?

Thanks...
I might give it a go and do some testing of my own. It's a good alternative to a hunting/defence system in a SHTF scenario.

Re: Slingbow as a good addition to BOB for SHTF?

Looks good. Ive been toying with the idea of making one out of my Cobra sling...... I notice you use a plastic half moon arrow guide, what advantage/disadvantage would a whisper biscuit make instead, (they are expensive)? What is the paracord system on the 'draw' end for? Would i have to modify (cut...

Re: Slugs and snails

Border off your plot and throw some slow worms in - they will eat ALL of the slugs, they go mental for them.

Firstly of course you've got to get some slow worms. :?:
