Re: Is growing food a waste of time?

You've made your mind up but I thought I'd just give a link to a couple who definately think it's worth while. (ok so it's the mail but worth a read) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2360180/The-Good-Life-Couple-spend-just-50-YEAR-bills-collect-rain-water-flush-toilets-grow-food--detached-bun...

Re: SHTF Personal Protective Equiptment

If necessary I'd use my re-enactment gear for protection. A padded jack is a type of soft armour that is many layers thick and is very good at stopping injuries. Then I have helmets , mail , armour and shields and so on if I wanted to go that route. You mention a long police shield. They really are ...

Re: What seems to be missing.

I've never actively gone out to purchase precious metals although I do have a handful of kruggerands and soverigns and a few silver coins. I'm sort of partly agreeing with you on their value post event and you are probably correct that market traders would be unlikely to take them. And if they do I'...

Re: What seems to be missing.

Or am I missing something here? Maybe or maybe the UK guys aren't as keen to announce where they would stash such stuff, besides there's so much more to bug out than most of us can get our heads around so we plan to bug in or become refugees ;) . Yes I can fully understand why people wouldn't want ...

What seems to be missing.

Like most newbies I suspect I've been reading and re-reading old posts but haven't found an answer but if it's out there I do apogolise. I think I'm trying to tie a few threads together so to speak. I've looked at the contents that people have posted of their bug out bags, I've read how many are als...

Re: quality folding shovel recomendations?

I don't go big on folding spades or most folding type tools if I'm honest, I keep a full size spade in the van and also a mattock and saws and so on. However, I do have a folding spade that is made by Acrow. The spade blade has 3 different positions , folded back against the handle , in line with the...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week

This week or so I've signed up to a wholesale warehouse called Bookers. Easy to do as I'm self employed as they like to deal with traders. Also I've aquired several 1 gallon food grade water containers for nowt. They were used to hold the concentrate for slushy drinks and the stall holder was skippi...

Re: Plastic paint tubs

Thanks, either there's not a lot out there or my searching leaves a bit to be desired but I was having trouble finding answers on the 'net. I'm not sure if there is a difference in the make up of the plastic that could cause leaching or other problems. I have used in the past larger tubs that were m...

Re: Hello I seem to be a prepper

Just read this. Could really use a guide on Bow making plus arrows, I have never quite got it right :( Instead, why not look up "slingbow" online. Nick does make a good point. Historically one reason the bow was dropped was the time and expense required to be able to actually use one whereas if a m...
