Re: On display or hidden away?

Interesting thoughts. I don't have weapons , knives or the like on display but then again I don't keep those things locked away. I have swords , axes , spears , bows and tools in the garage some of which are on racking and a few just leaning against the wall. Some take a bit of getting to involving ...

Re: Dessert/Sweet Ideas?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned honey. The stuff is practically immortal and can be used on toast, mixed with oats for flapjacks and of course eaten with custard.

Re: long term prepping

Am I right in assuming you're younger than me spare tyre? ( I'm late forties).
Still the younger generation can beat me hands down at wiping out zombies or driving high speed sports cars or piloting spaceships or a million and one other things on a computer screen

Re: Timekeeping/telling the time!

I generally don't wear a watch. I used to but having snagged a couple whilst working got fed up of having to restrap them or simply having them getting very scratched I gave up on them (I also had my wedding ring made oversized too so that It comes off easily for pretty much the same reasons) .I did...

Re: help with holiday preps

You're right about the muddy foot ware in Australia. When we went in about 2004 our bags were searched and my wife's trainers were pulled out and yes they were dirty. So they were disinfected there and then , the soles not the insides, and returned cleaner than before. We also weren't allowed to tak...

Re: help with holiday preps

We're going away soon too and whilist I'm not concerned with taking multitools or knives as if anything happened I reckon I'd source something over there by one way or another my wife has given thought to it albeit on a smaller scale. She was packing the cases and has put in some bits and pieces of ...

Re: What is your concept of Bugging Out?

I've camped out in winter before and survived , indeed crawling out from under a sheet of canvas to find everything white over does give an odd boost to the ego. However, that said I do tend to agree with jansman that the whole head for the woods idea is a bit of a non starter. Maybe doable to a poi...

Re: Paraffin

I seem to recall that paraffin produces a similar volume of water to its original volume of fuel when burnt, so it can cause condensation if used in a house. Explains why it was generally used to heat leaky greenhouses . Also it's not the nicest smelling fuel , well in my opinion .

Re: Top skills

I do have a decent skill set but it's nowhere near complete or perfect . If I could have extra skills then engineering would be up there. Sure I've worked on and repaired cars when I was younger but the ability to machine parts and keep infrastructure working post event would be good. Likewise I can...
