Re: Potato Help please

Nice little bonus today at work that fits in with this thread. Cutting down the hedge and customer asked me if i wanted some seed potatoes . Took her up on the offer and she reappeared with a couple of dozen along with some peas. Won't make me self sufficient but a nice gesture. Got the potatoes in ...

Re: Potato Help please

I just throw them in the ground. I used to use ordinary kitchen potatoes that had got old, this year I bought seed tatties. Until a few years ago when the council asked people to not put food waste in their garden bins i would plant what we called "bin tattiers" . These were potatoes , the ordinary...

Re: 2020 Potential Economic Collapse

Certain companies will be doing well out of the pandemic others will be struggling. Will hedge funds and brokers hold onto their stocks in struggling companies or invest in those doing better. Not a difficult question as their only concern is money. The "money" the governments are spending isn't som...

Re: So,have your preps been useful?

A lot of my work is paid in cash but i've had a couple of customers pay with a cheque recently and the reason is that they have wanted to conserve what cash they have to hand. Seems to be at the back of a lot of people's minds.

Re: So,have your preps been useful?

Having full cupboards has certainly helped us reduce how often we needed to go out to the shops which if nothing else has reduced exposure. Like others our cash has largely been untouched. I've still been able to keep working on external jobs but getting materials has been a pain. I queued for nearl...

Re: 2020 Potential Economic Collapse

U You know grenfell, the Adams story is a cracking analogy of our current society. By that I mean here and right-this-minute-now. Our World went to Sh£t a month or so back, the shelves were stripped and the NHS was gearing up for the battle ahead. Everyone except essential workers were locked down....

Re: 2020 Potential Economic Collapse

No mortgage , i saved up and brought the house cash. But either way all those things you mention could be offered without some city slicker making an obscene fortune on the side. I have little choice but to operate inside the system we have but i don't have to agree with it or have any empathy with ...

Re: 2020 Potential Economic Collapse

To bosworth Douglas Adams shot off the useless 1/3 of the population of the planet Golgafrincham . If you know the story Golgafrincham was eventually destroyed and that useless 1/3 ended up crashing on earth and forming the human race but that's another story. They left behind all the dooers and thi...

Re: 2020 Potential Economic Collapse

Oil price today is around $16.50 and has been slowly rising from the -$40 over the last couple of days , numbers out of the air ( or out of their butts) . It's times like these when i could happily see everyone involved in the stock market , futures , derivatives loaded onto a spaceship and shot off...

So, the only people getting shafted are the 'money men' ?
Sounds like a result to me ;)
Certainly taking a hit , my heart bleeds for them honest , but the so and so's will no doubt try to spread the hurt...
