Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
Half of my wood stores are made from pallets. One for the base, three for the walls and one as the roof with some plastic sheeting to keep the rain off. All nailed together. They are surprisingly stable - I have moved them about a bit to find the most sheltered location in my garden. I have about tw...

Re: What's the use of prepping when...
I always lock the doors when I'm in - a couple of years ago a house across the road got robbed while the owners were in the back room. They had left the front door open. They lost the tv and dvd player which were carted away in their own car, the keys hanging up in the hall! Having said that, I've c...

Re: Troy oz silver coins
I would recommend being careful buying silver off ebay. If the seller doesn't post a picture of the coin depicting the currency value its probably fake. They get a smaller jail sentence for counterfitting if they don't put the Yaun symbol on.

Re: Alas Babylon
This is one of my favourite books. It highlights the mistakes people make with regaurds to stockpiling as well as being a fantastic read.

Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
I put my chainsaw to a proper test today. The manager at work asked if I wanted a couple of trees that he needed out of the way. I hadn't felled a tree before so I offered to share them with a colleague who has. He got some wood and I got some one to watch over me and offer advice. We got over a wee...

Re: VERMIN!
I found mice in my garden last week - they were living in one of my unused planters and came out when I moved it! I did wonder what kept setting the security lights off. I've put traps down and got two (out of the four I saw) so far. I tried using peanut butter but they licked it off without setting...

Re: What is everyone growing this year?
I planted runner beans and what I expected to be dwarf bean bushes, which I expected to reach two foot high. I now have twenty feet of six foot high and four foot wide bean hedges :o They have gone mental! I have been eating beans for six weeks and I have enough frozen to last until christmas :P Mak...

Re: Pallets.
I keep a small hand saw in the boot for cutting pallets down to fit in. I've got quite proficient at reducing pallets down. I also used to put four or five on the roof rack - I'm six foot so I could easily reach
