Re: Small/cheap equipment

Fantastic answers as always. Thank you. I mentioned to a friend of mine that I was looking for a stove and my issues with no flames in my tenancy agreement. She gave me a flameless stove she had in her loft and never used. It has chemical packs you put in the bottom and add water. Haven't quite got ...

Small/cheap equipment

Hello all. I'm relatively new to this prepping and have been working on getting equipment such as candles, torches, stove etc. As money is starting to get tight can anyone recommend cheap equipment that might be useful? What sort of things could I have overlooked? I'm trying to be ready for power ou...

Re: How is everyone doing right now?

Thanks for asking. Not a question I hear anymore and it's nice to hear. I'm starting to feel the pinch in the wallet but that's mainly due to my rent increase of £100. We have also had to spend more on food due to poor harvests this year. I've almost completely ditched the car as it's costing so muc...

I see the Ecoflow can be charged via an EV hook up

As an ev driver I have to say I would be pretty hacked off if I saw someone using a public charger to charge up a power station  I have to wait for them on long journeys as it is.

Re: Got a solar generator
If you've got economy 7 charge it at night whilst the leccys a bit cheaper... And you've got resistant power if we get rolling power cuts even if you do have to use the mains to charge.. If you commute a fair way can you boost it up with a car charger??
Yes it will plug in to a 12v...

Re: Got a solar generator

Had the Jackery for a while now and I'm still very impressed by it. In the weather here this summer it's been easy to keep it charged. Induction hob was a bit of a flop as only worked on lower settings and drained the Jackery quickly. Went camping for a week and it cooked one hot meal a day using an...

Re: Consultation on transitional arrangements for edible insects in Great Britain

I don't see the point in this at all. We dont need protein from insects as we can live well on plant based proteins. With climate change and new plant breeding we can now grow soy beans, lupins, a wide range of beans and peas in this country. My opinion is that we need to change our agriculture in t...

Re: Dry growing season

Have you ever read Steve Solomons "Gardening without irrigation"?It is available on project Gutenberg or there is an updated version for sale on Amazon. I found the comments about plant spacing fascinating and if we ever get hit by drought with water restrictions I do pull out plants to i...

Dry growing season

Hello. With this summer being so dry here on the east coast I thought I'd make a topic about what is growing well and was has failed. Please share your success and failures this summer. My plot is very free draining but for the last few years I've been mulching it with anything I could get cheap/fre...

Re: How are you preparing...

Also forgot to add a few things that I've started doing since taking on this prepping. I'm learning ways to cook, travel and keep entertained without mains electricity. All simple stuff really but it's fun right now and could be vital later on.
